CLOSE TO THE SEA

Podere Casalpiano is ideal for your beach holiday in Tuscany as it is located near some of the most important beaches on the Etruscan coast and the upper Maremma, all easily reachable and closeby.

The Etruscan Coast starts from Piombino and goes north up to Livorno. Piombino is located on the coast facing the island of Elba, it has several beaches such as the Spiaggia dei Frati, Il Canaletto, Salivoli, Calamoresca, Spiaggia Lunga, Fosso alle canne, Baratti, Buca delle Fate: some of these beaches are still uncontaminated and therefore privy of services and reachable only on foot or by mountain bike, others are equipped and with parking nearby.

After Baratti, the Rimigliano Natural Park begins with the Torraccia beach, almost "wild" in some stretches. San Vincenzo is a well-known seaside resort in the northernmost coastal area with sandy beaches and a large urban area with various shops and restaurants.

On the other side of the Piombino promontory we find the beaches on the east Coast with the Sterpaia natural park with the Perelli, Carlappiano, Mortelliccio, Carbonifera and Torre Mozza beaches, all characterised by a splendid sandy coastline and natural landscape.

WINE AND OIL ROUTE

The Etruscan Coast Wine and Oil Route is at least 150 km in length along the Tyrrhenian coast and the Island of Elba in an area that has remained intact from a natural and scenic point of view. Wine and oil become the common thread for a journey to discover villages, parish churches, ancient farms, spots, cellars and oil mills. In this area of Tuscany the Italian wine revolution began with the forerunner of the "Supertuscans", Sassicaia, and continued with the initiatives of the many winemakers scattered in the five DOC areas of the territory, enriched by a valuable production of extra virgin olive oil from olive and quality gastronomic products used in the rich local cuisine.

We pass through Rosignano Marittimo, Bolgheri with its monumental "cypress avenue", Castagneto Carducci and the Sassicaia vineyards; for trekking lovers there are the paths of the "macchia della Magona" which climb the hills from Bibbona; then there are the ruins of the Tower of Donoratico and Sassetta, the wildest stretch of the Wine Route. We then arrive in Suvereto, a village rich in medieval architectural remains and in Campiglia Marittima. Finally you go down towards the Val di Cornia and you reach Venturina Terme where you can enjoy the spa with heated waters at 36°. Continuing on to Piombino, and crossing the sea, you reach the island of Elba famous for its Aleatico vineyards, or you can proceed along the last stretch that runs from the Gulf of Baratti to San Vincenzo.

BIKE HOLIDAYS

You can pass through the medieval villages of Suvereto and Campiglia Marittima and lap up the history, but also the scent of wines and ‘extra- virgin olive oil.

Close to the Podere there is the park of Sterpaia and Rimigliano where you can see the sand dunes shaped by the wind. This area in Tuscany can be enjoyed during all seasons of the year: climate data reveals that the Livorno province is one of the less rainy areas in Italy and the average temperature is about 15-16 degrees with minimal temperature fluctuations due to the proximity to the sea.
